It’s great to see how organisations continually learn and adapt how they are transforming.
In this article I share a very smart approach being taken by Spotify and how they are using ‘citizen developers’ for RPA and Intelligent Automation delivery. This being a ‘COE managed approach’ where the Automation Centre of Excellence is responsible for the promotion, education, training, support and QA of the citizen developer initiative, community, and deliverables – all helping maximise benefits, and mitigate risks.
There has been much talk about the requirement for improved governance around the use of citizen developers, and validation of deliverables – which seems like an ‘Ambulance at the bottom of the cliff’ attempt to ensure quality. However, the COE managed approach elevates the quality of thinking and deliverables from the beginning, and increases efficiencies, innovative thinking, and employee engagement within the organisation.
